{"id":99,"date":"2010-02-08T16:51:43","date_gmt":"2010-02-08T16:51:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/jenrossity.net\/blog\/?p=99"},"modified":"2010-02-08T16:55:33","modified_gmt":"2010-02-08T16:55:33","slug":"learning-from-the-e-learning-and-digital-cultures-course","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/jenrossity.net\/blog\/?p=99","title":{"rendered":"Learning from the &#8220;E-learning and Digital Cultures&#8221; course"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/digitalculture-ed.net\/\">E-learning and Digital Cultures<\/a> was a 12-week course taught by me and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.malts.ed.ac.uk\/staff\/sian\/\">Si\u00e2n Bayne<\/a> as part of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.education.ed.ac.uk\/e-learning\/\">MSc in E-learning programme<\/a>. It was innovative for the programme because of the nature of its engagement with digital cultures: it was open-access and disaggregated (you can see for yourself by browsing the web site), and made use of blogs, lifestreaming, twitter and a range of social and user-generated tools from across the web.<\/p>\n<p>We&#8217;ll be presenting a paper at the <a href=\"http:\/\/ewds.strath.ac.uk\/aic\/Home.aspx\">Academic Identities for the 21st Century conference<\/a> at Strathclyde University in June called &#8220;Posthuman academic identities in digital environments&#8221;, drawing on <a href=\"http:\/\/www.malts.ed.ac.uk\/staff\/sian\/pdfs\/academetron.pdf\">Si\u00e2n&#8217;s recent work on uncanny digital pedagogies<\/a> to talk about some of what we&#8217;ve learned from this course: how to work productively with volatility, disorientation, and strangeness.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/luvataciousskull\/3373408951\/in\/set-72157615642226767\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/farm4.static.flickr.com\/3625\/3373408951_d70c118a5d.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"375\" height=\"500\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>E-learning and Digital Cultures was a 12-week course taught by me and Si\u00e2n Bayne as part of the MSc in E-learning programme.
